15 years of community music making

  1. Our active mailing list has over 1000 subscribers from all over the Bay Area, with monthly gatherings drawing an average of 85 musicians of diverse ages and skills

  2. Hosted 10 guest conductors, flash-mobs, dance sessions, ukuleles, a luthier, and a bagpiper

  3. Explored over 450 arrangements of orchestral music, and our musicians have premiered their works with the orchestra

  4. Presented our annual Holiday Sing-Along at the Mountain View Civic Center Plaza with guest choruses

  5. Outdoor gatherings on July 4 and Halloween on the ParkStage at the Mountain View Center for Performing Arts, summer outdoor concerts on the downtown Los Altos Green and the Mountain View Library, special appearances at the Palo Alto Women’s Club, Moldaw Senior Residences, the SJSU Music Education concert, neighborhood gardens, and cul-de-sacs. Invite us and watch out: We might come!

  6. Produced virtual orchestra project “Viva La Vida” with TACOLA; created 10 virtual videos for a holiday concert in 2020, mixed and edited by digital arts students from Freestyle Academy, MVLA High School district, shown on our YouTube channel and KMVT local cable and shared around the world, for isolated listeners during the pandemic

  7. Created TAQUITOS, an internal chamber music networking group for TACO musicians to connect; inspiring several dozen home-based strings and wind groups to gather

  8. Inaugurated TACO Los Angeles in 2019, an independent group directed by TACO musician Jazmine Rampas. A documentary was featured on LA Times Today, Spectrum 1 News, Sept. 2022

  9. Registered trademark of the TACO name and logo with the US Patent and Trademark Office

  10. Launched a spring fund-raising event, TACO’s Day of Giving, raising $3,500 with 47 donors in one month, bringing our total donations to $20,350 with over 106 donors in 2023

  11. Provided 84 scholarships to musicians who needed help with the increased registration fees

  12. The first orchestra ever to be invited to perform at the Golden Gate Park Band Festival, June 2023

  13. Received grants from the Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation, the Melvin & Geraldine Hoven Foundation, and Silicon Valley Creates, in partnership with the County of Santa Clara 

  14. Premiered the documentary film Sunday Afternoon Playing with Friends at the ICON theater in downtown Mountain View, on May 5, 2024

  15. On March 30, 2025, TACO marked a 15-year milestone with the world premiere of “Shoreline to Skyline, commissioned by TACO from the late composer Nancy Bloomer Deussen. The event also premiered Silence to Sound”, a documentary exploring Bloomer Deussen’s creative process and the landscapes that inspired her music.
